Finish on Strathearn Lampbase

Hi Frank

Have you seen this type of surface finish on any other pieces of Strathearn....this is a slightly smaller version than is normally seen of the "twisted" lampbase....and has the appropriate leaping salmon underneath. Does this type of decoration have a specific name at all.

There is a story that a handful of surface decorated pieces were made by Strathearn yet ever more are appearing, so perhaps it was produced more than is realised. Can you post a pic of the whole lamp please and I will se if we can get it reviewed by an ex Strathearn worker. I will move the new link into your first message

Hi Frank

This is the only photograph I have of this at the moment...if at some later stage you require a better one please let me know.
The problem is that over the years I have collected so much different glass that it is now in boxes/crates/ cupboards/shelves/my attic and now various boxes in my sisters attic........and I just wont dispose of it....!!!!

This smacks of wanton commercialism! Should I edit these posts and risk the wrath of Gary.

Will Gareth get impatient waiting for the definitive answer and be tempted to succumb to the insidious seduction...

Or shall we just wait and see how the story unfolds :o

Hi Gary

For someone who yaks on a lot I can often be quite oblique and miss the rather glaringly obvious..!! My apologies I did not mean to ignore your "observation".  At the moment Gary I'm just trying to find out more about it but of the MonVasStrath that I have its not a piece I am particularly attracted to.......so ....once I stop faffing about and decide what to do with it I do actually have your email address.
As you mentioned lamps have you come across a Vasart Tulip lamp very dark blue/ brownish swirls and gold aventurine flecks...???....looks almost black when not lit.
Anyway must go....I've just spotted Ken Livingstone shimmying up my drainpipe.

Regards

Gareth
