Contemporary orange vase - signature help please?
« on: February 28, 2007, 04:38:22 PM »
You all know how challenged I am about signatures...

I reckon this modern orange vase sig reads S Carloss but googling that just seems to give me Windscreen tinting in San Carlos, and that isn't quite right somehow...

It's quite nice though, rim is very organic and lumpy which I like.  Colour is just a little bright for me though (looking out my  8) )

Thank you very much!

I think it's a J, not an S.
So it's something that Juan Carlos made at evening class???
With royal connections, it must be worth a mint :-)

Clue - The artist was one of three partners in a studio that was named after the other two partners. The studio doesn't exist any more.

Don't want to make it too easy! :)

Well done Cathy! :)

James Carcass was the third partner in LA Studios which used to be in Herne Hill. LA stood for Louise and Andrew (Hay). The studio closed a few years ago and Andrew Hay has been working in the midlands. James became production manager for Fusion Glass, an architectural glass producer, but I am not sure if he is still there.
