Is this glass figure Murano?
« on: March 05, 2007, 08:58:32 PM »
Hello,

I posted this message a few days ago and the post mysteriously disappeared. If I am violating any board rules please let me know as I am a bit of a novice when it comes to the glass messages site.

I just purchased this glass figurine and am pretty sure it is vintage Murano based on the technique and "heft" of the piece. It measures 11.5" tall. Can anyone attribute this piece to a particular designer or manufacturer? there are no makers marks or stickers left. i included a link to some images below and any info asdie from the fact that it is Murano (or not) would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Pete

Apologies for the missing post - the board did experience problems a few days ago.

This type of figurine crops up quite regularly and can be purchased in Murano as new. However, I'll leave it to an expert to ID it properly.

Hi! Thanks for the reply. Although this may not be from the 50's or 60's I do not believe it is new judging from the 1/4" of dust I had to clean off the piece to make it presentable. :)

If anyone has a similar piece with a history, I'd love to see or hear about it.

Pete

Looks vintage to me and also has the look of a Barovier Toso piece.
