Vasart but what ???
« on: February 03, 2007, 11:46:16 AM »
One for Frank

Im wondering if you have seen anything like this , most certainly vasart with the pink and Green and a smattering of Yellow specks, Rounded Mouth as if it was a lamp base , however the hole in the bottom would certainly unbalance it if it was meant for a flex , as for a vase or a light fitting i would not think so

Sizes  are 4.5 Inches Tall with the main body being 4.5 Inches Wide the top measures 3.5 Inches

Thanks   G

Has to be a lamp shade, either hanging or for mounting on top of a base. The acid test would be seeing if it will fit, the cut hole looks quite small what size is it? It would need to get a small bulb holder inside and then the ability to actually fit a bulb that does not extend too far - but it does look a little tight at 4½"high!

Will try and get Dave Moir to look maybe he made it....

Thanks for getting back to me Frank
the diameter of the hole in the top is 1.75 Inches , so as you say it would be a small lamp that would be needed

What size is the small hole, I wonder if it would fit the standard threaded tube that lampholders screw onto.

I seem to be completely out of lampbases with a threaded top! If someone else has one, from 1950's, can you measure the thread tube at the top for outside diameter, please.

Quote from: Dave Moir
Had a look at the piece. It looks like Vasart but I have never seen this shape before, I recognise the colours as Vasart but I dont recognise the shape. Maybe it was a one off. They did make two piece lamps in this colour they looked quite good. This piece could be a base if there is a hole in the base. Will make further enquiries.

Now, where are these two piece lamps?

For those who don't know who Dave is...
