I take it that nobody wants it? the base is not clear imho and that means it's new? I do not want it either  ;D

It's not old Classic Carnival, as you suspected, Pamela - it's newer Indiana "Goldtone" iridescent, circa 1970s.

(I don't want it either  ;))

EDITED TO ADD: the colour of the base glass won't determine whether it's old or new though.

Beat me to it, Glen!! (but I only know because you told me  :-* ).

I already have one, but the foot is not clear.
If I know, I'll comment. If I think I know, I'll have a go. If I have no idea, I'll just keep quiet and learn from others, so the next time I'll know.

Glen and Della, thank you!
But please I have to ask again - being somewhat blonde:
the base of 'this gone' looked iridised also - wasn't this to signify NEW?  :-\

Pamela - you noted that the base of the Indiana piece in the auction referred to above looked iridised, and you asked "wasn't this to signify NEW?".

I think we've used the term "base" in 2 different ways in this thread, and that's where the confusion comes from.

1. base = the base glass itself, the glass batch
2. base = the bottom or underneath part of the item

If the base glass is clear (not coloured) then it has no significance in terms of age, etc.

If the underside (base) of the item is iridised, then that may be an indication of newer production. Not always though, as there are exceptions; for example, some old European items have iridescence on the base.

Thank you Glen, understood. I meant the centre bottom of that bowl being iridised and I am not knowing how this would have been done  ::)
The colour of the 'base' glass remains uncertain also, doesn't it :-\ ?

Hi Pamela,
Based on the piece that I have, I would say that the base glass is amber in colour. Definitely not colourless glass.
If I know, I'll comment. If I think I know, I'll have a go. If I have no idea, I'll just keep quiet and learn from others, so the next time I'll know.
