Kastrup Holmegaard lamp. Help please.
« on: March 15, 2007, 01:45:08 PM »

Hi  ;D

I have got this lamp base, in green. I know which company made it as it has a sticker. Could you please tell me as to when it dates and who the designer would be? Also, it came with an awful orange/yellow floral lampshade, which could be original, I don't know, do you?

Thanks, as always.

I would say yes. Right sort of period and I've never seen a lightshade for a table lamp with a downward reflector but it's something that would work with a glass base

The label dates it to 1965-71. I believe these were originally sold with Le Klint (or Le Klint style) shades.

I think the design originated with Kastrup, and as such the likely designer would be JE Bang, but don't quote me on that.

Thanks Nic,  ;D

I have listed it and put a date on of 1965-68, based on the info that is in the Homegaard-Kastrup book that I have. I wasn't sure if it would be J E Bang, so I haven't attributed it to anyone other than the factory.
I have put the shade with it, but given any buyers the option of having the shade or not.  ::)
Again, many thanks.  ;)

I spotted the auction before I spotted this thread.  ;D

Good luck with the sale.

In my literature I've just spotted a very similar lamp designed by Gunnar Biilmann Petersen for Kastrup in 1939. So it's possible this design originated around the same time, as opposed to being a Bang design.

Just a thought. Hope to have my grubby mitts on the relevant catalogues within a couple of months, so I'll confirm then.
