Newbie needs information
« on: March 21, 2007, 01:01:04 AM »
Greetings all,

My father recently gave me this paperweight. This weight has been in my family since my great grandparents bought it before my grandfathers birth in 1901. I grew up with this peice on my fathers desk and have always loved it. I know nothing about it. My great grandparents came from Europe somewhere and settled in Indiania and Michigan. Any info would be appreciated. It is quite large and heavy and the bottom is indented and rough. I will answer any questions you may have about it the best to my ability. The pics dont do it justice. Thank you all in advance and have a nice day. ;D

Have a look at Bohemian weights..(google bohemia and whatever grabs you  ;D)
Also it might help if you could indicate where in Europe your great greats came from.  For example if they came from scotland people would give completely different opinions than if they come from one of the slav republics.  Also a clear photo of the base may make all the difference.
Kind regards from a fellow newbie!!!
