Is this candlestick by Chance?
« on: March 31, 2007, 04:13:51 AM »
Hi,
Can somebody tell me if this really nice candlestick is Chance or not?
I had it with my collection of Chance, but I can't find any markings on it.
If it is Chance what is the pattern called? And do we know when it was made?

I will appreciate the help.
Best regards
Angela

Yes Angela. Produced from around 1980, it is called Grantleigh (so named after the eponymous manor in the TV series 'To The Manor Born'!)

You'll see the pattern featured here, although it did change style slightly to fit the required shape:

Millions of thanks, David. I wanted to use it on the Glass Encyclopedia page about Chance glass at http://www.glassencyclopedia.com/Chanceglass.html

I put a link to your new book. Will your book provide this kind of information for identifying the Chance patterns. I look forward to buying one of your first copies.

Best wishes
Angela

Nice candlestick Angela, I don't think I've seen a Grantleigh one before.   :)

Many thanks for the link - the book needs as much exposure as possible.

It will include identification of every pattern, shape and colour variation, plus the dates they were introduced, and any anecdotal information that I have managed to glean over the past two years. I can't say it will be conclusive, but it's damn close! 8)
