Topic: Marigold carnival bowl - Kokomo or similar?

This is a very pretty bowl, pattern to the outside, plain inside, but I find the geometric patterns really really difficult...

It is sort of like Kokomo?  But not quite... the bands are not quite the same.  Any help please?

p.s. I was so pleased with myself today - I picked up a bowl, and thought "That is SO cone shaped - must be Dugan... "  and it was!  Well chuffed, I must be learning something!

There were too many threads with carnival glass in them, I didn't see that one!!

So, we both have to wait until these are attributed I suppose.

Glen, is Christine right in that it is likely to be European rather than US?

I've just seen Lynne's Kokomo rose bowl and I would say the pattern is the same as Lynne's  and my Star and Studs bowls. Or am I missing something?

I don't have either of those items in my collection (nor have I ever had) so I can't speak from first hand experience, as I can't examine them. I've studied the photos in Baxendale's book - she shows both the items. The rose bowl (cupped in shape) has long been known as Kokomo. In fact I think it was once thought to be American (hence the name). The flared out bowl was named Star and Studs by Mrs Quintin Baxendale! She shows both items in her book.

Possibly best to continue to refer to them as separate names for now, with Kokomo referrring to the rose bowl only. But wise to cross reference them for clarity and full information. (Oddly, there is precendence for different pattern names in Carnival Glass).

What I think I shall do, whilst I have both of them here, is take close up pictures of the patterns on the sides, and we can then look at them in detail and see both the similarities and the differences.  I'll see what I can do tomorrow.
