Flashed Green Glass Bowl, any info please?
« on: April 03, 2007, 02:20:31 PM »
Hello there again!  I've had this wonderful bowl about a year now and still have not seen another one quite like it. It has got some substantial damage, one of the feet has been knocked right out and glued back in again,(some time ago, judging by the colour of the glue now) It has a massive crack going right across the base and various other nibbles. I got it from a man at a car boot sale who was just about to throw it in a bin. I'm not thinking of selling it at all as it gives me so much pleasure even in the state it's in. I think it's probably Czech. Just for curiosity's sake I would like to know the age and maker, and if possible what a similar one might fetch in perfect condition. thought you might like a look at it as well as it is beautiful.

I've probably got some of the titles mixed up but I'm sure you'll work it out, Cheers,Gill

Val Saint Lambert Belgium  :-\ just a guess because of the colour  ???

Experience teaches that anyone who begins to collect in any field can feel a change in his soul. He becomes a joyful man filled with a deeper empathy, and a more open understanding moves his soul.

Would you say rolled up little feet were a particularly Bohemian charcteristic, Ivo?

None of the VSL items in the 2000 catalogue have this frivolous feature, and it is out of character with the sturdy treatment of the material: cased not flashed, square feet, flat polished stands, star cut undersides and everything solid and heavy. I tend to associate scrolled feet with the lighter Czech items - though I would not be surprised if this were a subjective home made myth of mine....

Makes me think of the green glass on Anchor Hocking's page... but then I don't know much if anything about glass and I'm just learning.
Very beautiful though. :)
