Swedish Art Glass - label is for Hand Geismar (not G Hardy)
« on: April 15, 2007, 03:51:51 PM »
Went out for a drive today and ended up at a nice antique place we often visit.  (Not telling you where in case you all decide to go next weekend >:D )  We usually find one or two bits there, but today we really got lucky, and found several things each!  :D

One was this Swedish Art Glass footed bowl, with a G Hardy label http://glassgallery.yobunny.org.uk/albums/userpics/10048/normal_Swedish_glass_bowl_label.jpg

It's a beautiful purple, and a really unusual shape!  http://glassgallery.yobunny.org.uk/albums/userpics/10048/normal_Swedish_footed_bowl.jpg
http://glassgallery.yobunny.org.uk/albums/userpics/10048/normal_Swedish_footed_bowl_side.jpg
http://glassgallery.yobunny.org.uk/albums/userpics/10048/normal_Swedish_footed_bowl_base.jpg

Can someone tell me who designed it, and when?  Thanks.

I'll post a couple of my other 'finds' in different threads  ;D

Edit:  I forgot to say how BIG it is!  It's 6 inches high and 8 and a half across

Not unless you tell us where you went Leni!  >:D  >:D  >:D

Seriously, the colour reminds me of Kaj Franck's Kulho bowl here: http://www.designlasi.com/galleria.php?kuvaID=105&lang=1&sarja_id=0
and Saarah Hoopea's Hattuu bowl with similar colour and shape: http://www.designlasi.com/galleria.php?kuvaID=127&lang=1&sarja_id=0

Might be a starting point?

OK, it was Brackley Antique Cellar  ;)  Always loads of stuff to see, and they have a nice little tea room where you can get a light lunch or a cuppa and a piece of home-made cake, too.

And thanks very much for the links!  :-*

Leni,

I found this on Tradera
http://www.tradera.com/Stor_Vacker_Skal_Pa_Fot_Av_Monica_Bratt-auktion-32652986

The auction title says Monica Bratt, who I believe designed for Reijmyre.

Perhaps a possibility  ???

Gosh!  Any or all of those look like possibilities!  :o ???

The shape has echoes of the Saara Hopea, while the edge finish looks more like the Kaj Franck or the Monica Bratt to me.  I'm now totally confused!  :-\

I'll go and do some research on all of them ::) Thank you both for the suggestions :-*
