Michael Rayner - Isle of Wight glass?
« on: April 13, 2007, 08:51:20 PM »
Yesterday, I saw a piece signed "MICHAEL RAYNER 3RD JULY 1974" and I was curious (no change there then) to find out more.  I've googled him and found some links for old/gone ebay listings that had his name with Isle of Wight Glass.  Couldn't find a reference to him on the IOW website so I thought I'd ask if anyone knew anything.

It's possible the engraving might have been for a christening gift and the name and date were for the baby and birth date.......

Thanks

Michael Rayner was the founder of Alum Bay Glass, to the best of my recollection.
