Butterfly Candlestick Holders...Pink apricot - ID = Sowerby
« on: December 03, 2007, 12:00:52 AM »
These are my second query. ... Thought I recognised them when I bought them but I havent been able to find any reference since I got them.

My first thought was Walther but Ive searched high and low. They were sold to me as depression glass, so Im hoping that's correct.

Any ideas appreciated.

Ok, just after I posted a friend ID'd them as Sowerby from their  Butterfly dressing table set.

So thanks anyway :)

Hi Trudy
These where made by the UK firm of Soweby, it is a dressing table set, consisting of large tray, lidded pots and candle sticks like yours, if you search the board there is already a topic posted for this glass with more info. Not Depresssion, but made sometime in the 1930s.

Thanks Tony! You and I must have posted at the same time. Glad they arent modern as I was thinking once I got them home.

Wow Anne, I got stuck reading there but I dont think I'll attempt to find out which variation mine are :) Too much thinking on a Monday for me!! LOL Really interesting information though. Especially the part about the small bowl mold being broken.
