A.VE.M. or not?
« on: April 27, 2007, 10:38:25 PM »
Can anyone help with this bowl, I have seen a similar one on Ebay, listed as a tiger spot and leopard stripe bowl by Ansoolo Fuga, of A.VE.M. In the listing the spelling was Anzolo Fuga, but I think it's spelt Ansoolo.

Mine has the remains of a red label.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Sandy

Hi Sandy, I don't know about your dish, the experts will doubtless be along later, but Anzolo Fuga is definitely spelt thus, see this book from the Antique Collectors Club

Thank you very much!

Hello, Thanks for that, I looked up the spelling in Leslie Pina's Italian Glass,  and she spelt it that way, so I assumed it was right, but since checking on the net have found it was wrong, and you have confirmed that!
Thanks for that link, I think I need to buy a few more books.

I'm no expert, but since you've not got an answer yet I'm pretty sure this is not A.VE.M. Please someone contradict me if I'm wrong.

Hi Cathy, I wouldn't have thought A.VE.M either, but seeing the other bowls large sale price thought I'd better check to see if anyone had any idea as to maker.

This one: 220077587775 ? Doesn't look like AVEM either, but what do I know :-X. I hope someone who knows what they're talking about can chip in soon!  ;D

That last item looked awful on my screen Cathy.  How can someone have that level of business and not care how their listings look???

Thank you very much!

Yes, that's the bowl, I didn't like to put the auction number on, and it's a very bad photo!

Hi Sandy and Lynne,
It looks to me like they've bumped the contrast right up for some reason, and you're right, it looks horrible. Sandy, I think it's okay to mention this auction as it's on fixed price and so my mentioning it can't affect the final outcome.

I'm sorry but the piece is not AVEM. It is "generic" Murano glass.
