Pair Kastrup white bottle vase, but by who and when
« on: May 05, 2007, 05:34:27 PM »
I picked up these two lovely Kastrup bottle vases, both with labels on the bases

But I would love to know who made them and when.

I can't help you with info Barbara but they're splendid - very nice.  Just bumping this for you in the hope the Kastrup maestro Nic will see it, I'm interested in knowing more about these also.

Just spotted these on eBay - they're very firmly on my watch-list.  ;D

Your attribution on there is pretty spot-on - JE Bang, c. 1960.

You might have a little competition for these Nic  ;D

I'm having a little JE Bang phase right now. I have a pair of Bang pendant lamps in my bedroom which would match these vases beautifully.

But I'm not sure that my bank account can stretch to too much competition. ;D

Mine have been recently devoured by Holmegaard's 'Carnaby' range - it's not cheap stuff...   :(

Hi Nic & Pip,

I am so pleased that I got it nearly right, they are really nice ,and I think I've got an orange lamp-shade that matches, its the sameish shape but without the bottom, will have to look for it under the stairs.

(BTW if either of you are successful I am sure that some arrangement can be made about P&P  ;) )

Ooh, I'd be very interested in seeing the lampshade. Although the only JE Bang lamp I can think of (off the top of my head) in a similar shape that would have also been produced in orange is this one:

Oh dear, a bit of bad news. They're not actually vases - they're gin decanters with missing teak stoppers. I was just looking through some of my information to see if I could pin down that c.1960 to something a little more specific, and I came across the pattern 7648 gin decanter.

The images I have of it aren't mine, so I can't really post them (they were culled from eBay for my own reference), but the stoppers are fairly plain tapering cylinders of teak.
