Discus shaped paperweight = Dartington 1999-2004
« on: April 24, 2005, 11:47:23 AM »
Hi, my first entry.
i purchased a paperweight yesterday which is discus shaped 10cms diameter, but has an identication mark that is unknown to me.
The base mark consists of a deeply impressed circle contain two frying pan raised shapes, one with a long head and the other shorter with a larger head (facing in oppersite directions).
Any ideas please. Thanks.

I am sure they are intended to represent a paperweight in the making, it is a typical symbol used by glassmaking companies - but no idea who this one is?

Just to confirm that I discovered this last weekend that the discus paperweight was made by Dartington. I saw the same mark at a boot sale on a vase which also had a Dartington sticker. Problem solved!!

Hi Christine,
I no longer have a pic of the whole weight which was circular, flat with a clear outer area and a square mottled centre with four equal sized different coloured areas within that square. Deep breath!!
However, praise be, i still have a photo of the base mark

Hi Christine,
The photo has been added to the Yobunny Paperweight archive although I had to add a short appendix as I failed to fill in the appropriate boxes    .
