Vasart? Nazeing? Lovely frothy turquoise bowl
« on: May 16, 2007, 10:08:55 AM »
I bought this large (9 inch 220 across internal rim) unsigned bowl some time ago, it was listed as possibly Vasart, but I am not sure?  Checking out Frank's bowl shapes, I can't tie it to any of them.  It is similar to a couple, but the incurve of the rim seems wrong.  I wondered if it might be Nazeing?

However, it was pretty darn cheap so I bought it anyway.  I have finally got round to taking some pics (sorry, not very good ones, the colour and the dull light today have conspired to make it difficult to focus) and the actual colour is rather more green than it looks on my monitor.

Based on this , anyone got any ideas of who and when?

The pontil has been a real pain to photo, it is a shallowly depressed centre, with a circular ground pontil, with a deeper half moon snap

Anyway, if anyone can work from this for now, thankyou!
Thank you very much!

Lynne — I am confident that your bowl is Nazeing, probably pattern No. 1050, although this stepped shape is shown in the catalogue reproduced in Timberlake with a slightly sharper step, and the available sizes are listed as 8", 10" and 12".

Thank you Bernard!

If you include the curve of the side, and measure the diameter that way, then it is just 9.5 ins, but I guess 0.5 in is an acceptable leeway.

Be interesting if Stephen comes by, to see if he concurs.

btw... bought a whole lot of slag/malachite the other day, I think I may need to pick your brain on some of it.
Thank you very much!
