Tamara Aladin - Maljakko 1462 ???
« on: May 29, 2007, 08:24:47 AM »
Hello,

I would like to know a little more about the glass object by Tamara Aladin which I sell on my website:
This is the link to the specific glass object: http://www.galleryvandijk.com/tamara_aladin/collectie_ta5_a.html

I have the following questions:

1) Is this vase from the 1462-series?
This vase is released in a version with a "bubble relief" and the version I'm selling on my website. Designlasi is displaying a similar vase (with a bubble relief) on their website: http://www.designlasi.com/galleria.php?kuvaID=412&lang=1&sarja_id=0
>>>> My turquoise coloured vase has another kind of relief, so I wonder if my vase is also from the 1462-series?

2) Is this vase from 1972?
The version of this vase with a "bubble relief" has been designed in the sixties as stated by a couple of other websites. My vase with another kind of relief is said to be designed in 1972 when you follow the next websitelink: http://www.1000-objekte.ch/shop/product.php?productid=234&cat=264&page=1
>>>> Is this also your opinion?

Thanx a lot  :),
Dennis.

 Hi Dennis,

Yours is 1465, produced in 1966-67.
The bubble is 1462, also produced 1966-67

Hope this is of help.

This helps a lot in deed! Thanks...

But it's kind of weird that the website: http://www.1000-objekte.ch/shop/product.php?productid=234&cat=264&page=1 is selling this object for no less than € 320 and states that this object has been designed in 1972 and not in the sixties. But I guess you're sure about the sixties...

Can you perhaps recommend some good literature about glass objects from Finnland, Sweden, Denmark etc... I already have a lot of info, but any good reference is always welcome!

Thanks again for your quick reply!  ;)

Hi Dennis,

Graag gedaan!

Wow  :o someone is living in hope! And I thought that I had seen it all yesterday. I went to the Luikse Markt in Utrecht and a lady was selling a torpedo vase (shape 1365), I picked it up and thought that the price was E12,50.........oh no! she wanted E125,00. I laughed and wished her the best of luck.
As for literature on Scandinavian glass, I only have four books at the moment:
Fire & Sea
Smoke & Ice
Designlasin hintakirja
Scandinavian Glass, creative energies
I also refer to the information in Andy McConnell's book. Millers 20th Century Glass.
All have pro's and cons.
Most of the information that I have on Riihimaen pieces, comes from my own collection of 42 different shapes and growing (limited to 6 different colours + colourless).
As for being sure about the 60's; I can only go off the information that I have to hand, but I have only seen these vases in 1 book and that states 66-67, all the other information I have found, that states the 70's, has been on websites selling items.

Groetjes,
Della

Bedankt Della!

Could you perhaps tell me in which book (title, author, year...) you've found the 1465-item by Tamara Aladin?

Thanks again... ;D

Millers 20th Century Glass - Andy McConnell. ISBN 1-84533-099-4, pages 206-223 is all glass by Helena Tynell, Nanny Still & Tamara Aladin with great information & great photos. This book also covers Tapio Wirkkala, Timo Sarpaneva, Kaj Franck and many others. I think it is money well spent! It also covers glass from other countries.

How much!!!!  :o something tells me they'll still have that vase in 10 years time LOL  Your price  is much more realistic and attainable Dennis.

By the way, I agree with Della - the Andy McConnell book you'll find very useful if you're into Riihimaki and other Scandi glass - definitely worth investing in.

Regards, Pip
