Strathearn Super Magnum or what?
« on: June 16, 2007, 07:18:25 PM »
My auction purchases today included this Strathearn paperweight. Is this what is called a Super Magnum and what design is it? Can anyone help. please. It is not the Sea Urchin or the Aurora. It is over 4 inches in diameter. The third photo shows it alongside my Aurora paperweight.
Regards
Ronnie

P.S.  I have had to use Tiny Pics for this because the Glass Querys Gallery won't let me upload these pics even though they are less than 200kb and 1000x750 in size. Can anyone help me with this?   Mod:  GlassGallery photo links uploaded by Zidori inserted here now.

i think the design is  called " stoer " if thats how you spell it, and it's rare to find a weight with the strathearn mark on the base a very nice find
cheers Ray

Thanks Ray. It really is some piece of glass and makes a great addition to my Strathearn paperweight collection. I have been trying to gather together at least one of every design of Strathearn paperweight made. So far I have managed to collect everything from P1 to P9, P12 and P15, P16, P26 & P27, P31, P33, P38 and P39. Not many to go now so I'll keep looking.
Regards
Ronnie

For anyone interested, here is a picture of a display of one of each type of Strathearn paperweight I am collecting with the Super Magnum in pride of place.

This is defintely NOT a Strathearn STOER weight. Here is a picture of a Stoer so you can see the difference, I think it is a much more collectable one off piece and it is common knowledge the glass makers at this facctory made many frigggers in their lunch break and sold them off to earn a little extra and I think this is one of these. A very nice addition to any collection - well done

Thanks for the further information. I can see from the photo of the Stoer that my paperweight is definitely not the same. It has pride of place in my small collection.
By the way, Frank, I sent pictures of the weight to Richard More and he sends you his regards.
