This bowl was the property of Ole Bull a Scandinavian violin virtuoso.  Anybody know perhaps the style or signature of the maker?  It would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Don

Ole Bull was Norwegian, born 1810 died 1880. That should help with timeframe at least.

Hi and welcome to GMB. Very seedy glass, but here's an enhanced version of the image, if anyone can help:

Don, I have converted the title of this thread so it encourages more people to look.

The name could be Harknen or Harlenen?

Ivo might recognise it.

Edit: Hadeland? Norwegian glassworks from c.1762, according to Ivo's book

It could be Hadeland but I wouldn't attribute it to H. just due to the sign.
Looks kinda like it starts with Hark... or Harle... from the "k" or "l" onwards it doesn't seem to match the "land" ending.

I haven't seen anything like this made by Hadeland from this period.

The green tinge and air inclusions in the glass reminds of me of 19th C. dutch glass.

Besides Norway, Ole Bull lived in Germany, France and USA, for several years in each place, and travelled extensively.
So an attribution based on nationality could be dodgy.

If this piece is in the US it could well have originated there.

Frank, I appreciate your thoughts, The 3x4" bowl has been in a collection since 1940's here in the USA.
Thank You, Don U.
