Crystal Vase with uncertain markings
« on: June 22, 2007, 04:55:04 PM »
This crystal vase has a clean look with  just a hint of a horizontal optic, possibly more the result of its size than artistic intent.  It's marked on the bottom with 776 and a letter, could be an O, could be meant as something else, not really as well done as the vase itself.  The pontil is polished.  Any ideas on this one?
Thanks.
Forrest

Looks like someone tried out their Dremel but gave up when they discovered it is not so easy to do.

Perhaps they had too much coffee?  It seems odd that the numbers are cleanly done and then this "thing" at the end.  Could well be a later addition, but does the shape number coordinate with anything?  It's sure not a piece done by an amateur, even if perhaps that last mark is.

vase could be libbey or Pasabahce - I've seen similar things from both of them. The "sig" looks all wrong.
