Papillon Sea Shell Loetz?
« on: June 24, 2007, 03:46:29 PM »
Hi, everyone. This is my first time posting on the general glass board, so I hope that I am doing it right. I bought an iridescent seashell a couple of months ago. I have spent a lot of time searching, but I have not been able to find another like it. It looks much like some of the things that were made by Loetz. I uploaded a couple of pictures of it.

The shell is about 7" long. The base glass is clear with a metallic violet papillon finish. The finish shows violet on the inside of the shell and has a silvery metallic sheen on the outside. There is no flat base, so the shell may have been designed to set inside of a holder. The glass has the feel and look of vintage glass. I hope someone can help identify this shell. TIA!

Thanks, Sue and Hotglass. I will check the Roger Tye site and google Hook and Sweeny to see if I can find a site or contact address. It is a nice shell. I know several companies did things that look like Loetz. It would be nice to have the correct attribution for the shell.

Thanks for your help,
Anita
