« on: June 26, 2007, 02:37:30 PM »
Can anyone please explain to me how this thing http://www.20thcenturymarks.co.uk/pages/single/1764.html could possibly be Holmegaard ??? Or has it been "stickered" Ed.

I've wondered about this too. Also it's apparently signed to the base 'WE Bang' (possibly JE Bang?), although I've personally never come across any glass signed by Jacob Bang, and he had died before the Kastrup/Holmegaard merge anyway.

Also, the signature described doesn't follow any Holmegaard pattern that I know of.

My best guess is that the signature is for another glassworks, and it's been stickered by someone at a later date.

ooooh that's horrid - I would be highly suspicious of the sticker too if I saw it.

Well for starters it looks like a piece of pressed glass to me. Secondly it looks Chinese made. 3rd he says "scratched" signature ....anyone can scratch. 4th I'm hard put to think of any press molded piece from anywhere with a signature, scratched engraved or otherwise (I'm sure they exist but very very rare). 5th the sticker does look old(er) - ie a paper one so probably pre 1980. But the vase looks like it came from TK Max yesteraday or maybe the day before. No actually TKMax do better stuff than this. BUT you never know ....that's why I asked. Ed.

The label dates between 1965 - 1970.
