ID for birds on branch sculpture...Signed.??
« on: July 04, 2007, 02:42:17 PM »
Hi all,

Hoping someone will recognise the mark on this large sculpure.

My searches have turned up hundreds of the bird/s on branch theme so tying down a maker has proved impossible....it is in a 30s style but suspect it may not be that old, but it is marked  :) and very nicely made, so I'm crossing my fingers that someone will know the maker.

It's approximately 30cm (12in) high (will check the exact height when I remember which box it's in) and very heavy. The mark is a blurred circular acid stamp with 'murano' the ony word I'm sure of.

Bump...

Just going through an old box and turned this up again, actually 28cm (11in) high.

Any ideas please before I break it, or lose the box again...

Thanks Max, I think it does a bit...it looks like it might be a number across the middle to me....maybe '8527' ??? the word on the right is definately 'MURANO' the other one I've no idea about?
