Signed barbini Vase- Technique?
« on: May 31, 2005, 02:14:18 AM »
Hi,
Does anyone know what the technique is on this signed Barbini vase? Very massive thick piece; the darl top is solid in color and the lavender base has clear spots like swiss cheese for a lack of a better description.
Thanks!

This is a fairly contemporary vase by Barbini. I don't know if there is a name for the technique, but there is probably a model or design name which you might be able to get if you emailed Barbini directly.

Hi Laura,
Do you happen to have a website or e-mail address for Barbini? Can't seem to google it! I did just send a pic off to Venini on the a canne decanter. Will let everyone know what they say if they respond.

Hi Leni,
Thanks for searching that website for Lenore.
As Laura said, the vase is more contemporary and believe done for Oggetti.

Hi again Lenore,
Do let us know what the style is called!
Looks like a big milkshake with chocolate topping to me, :D

Hi,
Will let you know when I get a response. None to date. Yum, chocolate! The base color is sort of a lavender and the upper portion is a deep burgundy. Fairly thick massive piece.

Response from Barbini glassworks!
« Reply #9 on: June 04, 2005, 05:28:39 PM »
Yeah! Received an e-mail back from Barbin glassworks regarding this piece (it was from a person with the last name of Barbin too!) Anway, here it is! Although they didn't indicate a specific technique I now know it is from 1979 (or at least designed then) and by Flavio.

The original of the  model you sent the illustration was  done on 1979 design FLAVIO
BARBINI:

It was blown by mouth and individually made by the glass master.
We stopped production long time ago.

Best regards.

These companies are so nice to respond!
