Art Glass Vase Possible Kralik
« on: July 12, 2007, 08:12:46 AM »
Hi,
I've had this for awhile trying to get an ID on it. It stands about 10 1/2" tall. Nice iridescence on the outside with a clam broth colour on the inside. - hope someone can help. Has been suggested as art noveau style possibly Kralik - any ideas?
thanks
mary

Hi mary,

sorry cant help you personally but if you have no luck here,
perhaps you could try the Aussie board as well.

Clearly art nouveau, or styled on... Why do you select Kralik, in particular?
You might try asking Eddy Scheepers at loetz.com, which is not an ebay add-on site, and has some major research talents, working very hard.

Hi,
A collector of Loetz thought  Kralik  and suggested I go to the loetz site to have a look.  To me the colour and finish looks similar to the Kralik PMC line, but I'm just unsure.
thanks

Hi,

just a message for Christine.

Please forgive me , as I meant no disrespect when I mentioned an alternative site for this post.

Its just that if Mary lucked out all together there would be another alternative.

Also I have heard that there is a lady on that board who has handled Kralik pieces.

I know there are wonderful helpful people here and are very much appreciated.

And Mary, best of luck with your vase , it looks great.

Ian  :)

Hi,
If you go back to loetz.com and to the Kralik section take a look on page 4 and at the bottom of the page to illustration 37. I think this is the same form vase as yours, the PMC stands for the Passau museum catalogue which i have open in front of me and the finish of the vase you have is similar to the vases shown on page 154 of PMC band IV in the Kralik section. The décor is called Opalglas  and dates from 1900 and the form is classic Art Nouveau and although your vase is a different colour way to those illustrated i am sure it is of the same line of décor, i have been to the Passau museum and seen these vases they are very beautiful and very intense they certainly are a match to the better known Loetz silberiris décor of the period. I have several Kralik vases in different décors in my collection and in my opinion yours is definitely Kralik and a very very nice vase. Kralik is a very underrated glass house and is often passed off as Loetz at fairs and by dealers who should know better, it should be recognised as the fine period art glass it is. Hope this helps, Cheers Pwayne.

Hi Pwayne,
You are right on the money about this being a Kralik piece and the line of decor. I have just  received an e-mail from Alfredo Villanueva-Collado, and he confirmed it as being Kralik. (I sent an e-mail to him asking what he thought).
I am so excited, as it is truly a beautiful piece and the first one I own.
I appreciate the information - I didn't realize what PMC stood for. I agree that they are underrated, but hopefully one day that will change.
thanks again
mary
