Hi Cathy, i looked everywhere but came up with ziltch!! so i am begining to think that maybe it was made on a studio day like Adam has and a visitor made it, so as an experiment for us all i am going to try "da da dahhh!!" the candle and soot trick!! i will let you know what happens  >:D

You may not be able to see it clearly, but it definately say's J. Sauta.

Sue,
Now please put some cellotape over it and "lift" the signature and stick that to a piece of white paper!
I presume no clunk  ;D ;D

Apparently Sauta means 'co-wife' in some language [in Nepal I think], but thats about all Google turned up of interest.

look forward to the final selotape [cellotape] unveiling......

Oooh hang on, it's not J. Santos by any chance? If so, maybe Julio Santos, Australia-based glass blower of Portuguese origin. Just tossing up a possibility...

Morning all, well here is the result and no CLUNK! although not very clear it did work to a point, as the base is rather concave the
cellotape creased and missed part of the lettering, i think it would have worked better on a flat base.
Holding the candle at an angle the flame hardly had to touch the glass, only the smoke (soot) from the candle touched the glass.

Sorry about the poor photo, but you should get an idea of how it work's.
