Topic: Satin Minimalist Weight

I liked the minimalist, Arte Povera (how pretentious is that?) quality of this paperweight.   I'm hoping it is something half way decent -- I know it isn't extraordinary -- rather than Asian junk .  Maybe one of the resident cane experts can help.  It has a satin finish all over.  Second pix (click link) shows it closer up.

Sorry to disappoint you, but it is not valuable. If you enjoy it, it is really all that matters.

There are a couple of things that let us know it is not valuable. First, there is a lot of space between the canes. Second, the cane sections are thin. Another thing is the satin finish is not not a delicate as, say, Fratelli Toso would be.

Because it is not valuable today doesn't mean that it won't be tomorrow. Enjoy

I do like it from an aesthetic standpoint.  The haphazard spacing of the canes is actually what drew me to it.  I paid very little for it (under $10 at a flea market) so its value is irrelevant, especially since I buy to collect and not resell.  However, what would really be helpful for me would be to know a couple of things: approximate age and country (or continent) of origin.  Any info along those lines would be greatly appreciated.

And also consider the current worldwide sale of lots of EFFETRE canes. Although I don't see any exact matches to the ones shown in Effetre page, the styles and colours are very close.

This frosted weight could have been made almost anywhere!
