Lynne, yours reminds me of Dickens' Mr Bumble, the beadle, from Oliver Twist.

I thought that he looked very Dickens-ey!

I do wish that he actually was mine....  :(

Hi, just an information up-date to this thread.
In the early 1920s the four principal companies involved in the production of these type of figures were Kleinert, Lubas, Bárta and Halama.
Some of the production for the latter company, was designed by Stanislav Halama, (particularly musicians) just before the company was nationalised, becoming part of the ZBS narodni podnik. (Translations from Hlaveš, M. Skleněné figurky – práce studentů SUPŠ sklářské v Železném Brodě, MSB Jablonec, 1998.

This figure is the night watchman.   Smaller villages had the night watchman to see that all is well.  I've seen newer versions of this guy and others that are older!!  I have an older one in my collection.
