Faux-megaard on eBay...
« on: September 03, 2007, 10:02:26 PM »
I'm sure it wouldn't really fool anyone on here, but someone's let a toddler with a Dremel loose on this vase:

AUCTION

Any clue who did make it?

What a shame. It looks like a very nice Stennett-Willson vase by Wedgwood or (if not marked Wedgwood by Kings Lynn glass).
Here's one to compare it to: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130146985630
These are quite rare a don't come up all that often. I've seen them go for good prices.

Thanks for that, Angela. I've messaged the seller with the information and hopefully they'll do the right thing.

Very surprised to see that it's English, though. I really wouldn't have suspected.

I doubt it's the seller who added the sig - they only have a few glass items on, including an Aseda vase being sold as Holmegaard, but no dremelling - just misinformation.

Have exchanged a couple of messages with the seller, and they're going to quiz the auction house where they purchased the vase from, and will probably pull the auction from eBay.

Well done Nic,
Hopefully this may break the chain of mis-information and save some others from it.
Best regards
Angela
