I think this could be Sowerby's 2266 crimped bowl from 1927 catalogue (courtesy of Glen & Stephen's Sowerby's Ellison Glass Works Vol.2 George V to Elizabeth II.)  It's a bit difficult to tell as the cat. illustration is sideways on, but it looks pretty similar.  Fabulous yummy colour!

Not too sure about this one, but could this bowl (3 part mould) also be Imperial's Helios???  It's very similar in colour (green base with gold/silver iridescence) to a pair of vases that Glen kindly I.D'd for me recently :)

TIA ;)

Hi Anne, your top one looks like the same pattern as the one Glen kindly ID'd for me a while ago as  Sowerby 2266 Chunky (aka Hob and Button) - see pics here:
http://yobunny.org.uk/gallery1/displayimage.php?pos=-806
http://yobunny.org.uk/gallery1/displayimage.php?pos=-807
but in a later post here Glen did say that some patterns were copied and the Sowerby 2266 was an example Glen quoted. See here: http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,16735.msg98199.html#msg98199

Oooh that's interesting about patterns being copied - Sowerby 2266 and Indiana :o  My bowl is slightly larger than the one in the Sowerby catalogue, at 9" diameter.  Whether this is significant or not, I don't know.  I wonder how you can tell the difference?  Perhaps a side-ways view would help?  Thanks for that Anne.

t'other Anne ;)

Anne, I reckon you have a Sowerby 2266 (aka English Hob & Button aka Chunky). It looks like a good marigold colour to me; is that right?

Indiana copied this pattern (astonishing really) but mostly every example of theirs that one sees is their iridised blue. It's a very distinctive colour and it has a purpley iridescence. It looks new! Made circa the 1970s.

Adam D has told many interesting stories about the 2266 pattern.  :)

Your other bowl is Imperial's "Shell and Sand" (sometimes just called "Shell"). Yes, I reckon you have correctly identified the colour as their lovely Helios.

A big thank you as always Glen :)

I held the Sowerby up to the light so that the pattern could be clearly seen when I took the picture, but I think the strong sunlight distorted the colour making it look very orangey.  Its actually ruby and the "intense red" shown on your Sowerby colours section.  Pictured here away from sunlight http://glassgallery.yobunny.org.uk/displayimage.php?pos=-8478

This is one of a pair I bought very recently and along with the Imperial and I think they'll look quite stunning with a backlight when I get my new display cabinet...
I will read Adam's stories about the 2266 pattern :) 8)
