Magnificent goblet to ID
« on: September 15, 2007, 01:04:59 PM »
Just having a tea break and thought I would add my next collection piece for you to peruse 8):
A while ago I bought this on eBay. The lady told me she bought it from Waterford when they had made pieces available which they had designed when Charles and Diana were married.

It is absolutely magnificent, so so brilliant! It is immaculately perfect, but there are no makers marks. Does anyone recognise this to confirm the story.

Will I be engraving it at some stage?.......yes :chky:

hhmmm, interesting suggestions....thanks people. I have seen one too many glasses with horses galloping around, but maybe a continuous collage of close up heads all in different actions ... I love engraving snakes, especially the king cobra, but I am battling to see this, unless I create a decorative victorian type design which is made up of snakes on close inspection, or a la art nouveau. Today is design day..(glass of wine only after 12 noon) :P ...Pad and pencils all go, only 2 weeks to Cambridge Glass Fair.    :o

Ivo's being rascally methinks!   >:D  St Patrick threw all the snakes out of Ireland, so there are none there now.

Ireland does, however, have some very distinctive animals of its own.

What about white foam surf horses, like the ones racing down the river in Lord of the Rings?  Lovely etchy foam...

Thank you very much!

I thought snakes was good as it links to the Charles and Diana theme so well.
