I know these can be anything but he is cute and I wondered if may be a known one. It does not have 3 coloured eyes.

Everyone seems to make these in varying degrees of elaboration.

The Zoo has 3 more examples of which  only one has a possible ID from the 1950's.

Now I do know what you mean, but it does bring a nice image to mind of a little dog with an extra eye in the middle of his forehead....
