ID of Old Weight

Wondered if someone could assist me with identification and approximate value of this old 2 1/4" diameter weight?  Thanks.

Nice find.  Your paperweight is of Bohemian or German origin from about 1880-1910.  Generally, collectors say it is from Silesia which is in the region where Poland, Germany and the Czech republic come together.  If you have von Brackel's book Paperweights - Historicism - Art Nouveau - Art Deco , you can compare it to figure 137 or some of the others in the book.

As for value, a New York dealer once offered me a dozen for $26, but he was only joking.  von Brackel sets the value in the $300-400 range, but I think a more realistic value is $150 to $200.

Alan,

Thanks for this information...most helpful!   ;D

I was guessing Bohemian, but quite unsure of that.

Ted
