Topic: Large Purple Cased Bowl

Here's an interesting piece that's got me stumped.  Exterior is purple and darker than appears in my first photo (see last image for accurate color).  It has an interesting convex bottom.  I'm assuming Scandinavian and circa 1960s, based on thickness (it's relatively thin), but possibly Italian.  22 cm (8 3/4") square.  Any ideas?
