Good day.

I agree with Della. A Kosta Boda form designed by Ulrica Hydman Vallien and created using a centrifuge at Äfors.

They are a production piece available throughout Sweden in mass quanities.

I have to say I'm with Cathy on this one - the Atoll's are plentiful around here too and this, to me,
doesn't have the 'thickness' I see in the Atoll's. The Atoll internal decorations seem more 'cloudy' to me.

I have seen them around for a good while now and none have had thin lines.

The Kosta Boda Atoll was designed by Anna Ehrner.

The complete ranges can be seen on Kosta Boda

Sandra, what are the measurements of your bowl?

Thanks

Might be an idea to ask Kosta on this one!

Hello.

I stand corrected and the form is "Atoll" and not designed by Ulrica Hydman Vallien who has designed a series of drinking glasses using the same technique as "Atoll"

The one I saw today in a local store has the thickness shown in the photo.

Hi Bill,

It's become a puzzle!  I'm with Frank - it seems an email to Kosta is in order.

We had discussed this thread in another thread, so I've just moved those posts over to this thread so that they're all in one place.

Cheers!

The smallest Atoll bowl is 4 3/8", or 110 mm.
The profile of your bowl doesn't seem to match the Atoll bowl.

Kosta does give en email address on their site so you could try emailing as Frank and Cathy suggested.
Swedes speak excellent english.

I think can go one better....
Does everyone agree that this looks like Sandra's? I bought it yesterday in an Australian homewares shop for $AUD 9.00.  There's no mention of the factory name other than that it was made in China, but the pattern is named as 'Scandia'. It does look a lot like Atoll, but when you see the two together the differences in height, weight, quality, profile, trail thickness become apparent. The base of the Chinese 'Scandia' is ground flat, whereas the base of the Atoll is moulded and concave.

Hope this helps someone!

Yes!! At last!! Thanks Cathy B :hiclp:
I'd given up trying to convince people that Sandra's bowl was not Kosta Atoll, you did it!!  :chky:
