G Ramsay TWEEDBANK PAPERWEIGHT - any info please?
« on: June 25, 2005, 05:35:58 PM »
This is a beautiful paperweight I found at a car boot sale last week. It is signed to the base G Ramsay 1979 and also TWEEDBANK.
Can anyone give me any info on the artist and/or the history of this paperweight? Any help would be gratefully appreciated.
Regards
John

Could it be a K or R...

1980 - ?,    Kevin and Rosalind Ramsay,    Lairg,    Glass Artist

Of course Tweedbank is in the borders and Lairg in the Highlands so it is a loose link.

If we find an answer it will fit here http://www.ysartglass.com/Scotglass/Scotlandglass.htm

Definitely not K or R, Frank. It is either C or G.

I'm not sure of the reference to Tweedbank, but in your search don't omit the distinguished glass artist Charles Ramsay http://www.craftscotland.org/makers_search_results_by_ID.html.MakerID-47.html
For reasons that I cannot remember, he also answers to the name of Victor! :D
