I could imagine there are other Murano makers in the duck business too.

With you 100% on that ..................  I have about 7 ducks now and have noticed the quality of some vary a lot , probably due to the source of supplier.  I will try to compare them all sometime.
 I had called a halt to my collection but could not resist buying the one with box .

Patrick, I wish I had known. Leeds is very close. We could have met for coffee or lunch and talked about our thoughts on the Tour d'Argent ducks. Sorry to have missed you.

I don't blame you, Patrick, for buying the one with the box.  I love it when old glass comes in the original box.  It makes it even more special or to me at least.

Here is a link to a postcard on ebay....which has the number of your duck on it ! Perhaps this is what they were giving away before the glass ducks ! I know which I would prefer .
