I need help to identify this mark - ID= Leerdam/Copier piece.
« on: November 01, 2007, 09:46:14 PM »
I have been collecting glass, blindly and not so blindly, but I like quality and buy anything that is engraved to the base etc. I bought this a while back and still have no idea as to who made it or the mark.......so I plead my case to the knowledge of all the all knowing. Do you have any ideas at all.  It looks like LC and a couple of dots. My feeling was it was oldish.60s, 70s. You guys have been invaluable with your help recently and I thank you most sincerely. Sue

Hi Sue,  :D
It is a Dutch piece. LC = Copier (Andries Copier) Leerdam.
If I know, I'll comment. If I think I know, I'll have a go. If I have no idea, I'll just keep quiet and learn from others, so the next time I'll know.

Della is right, Copier for Leerdam. See Ivo Haanstra's Millers glass a-z fact file (ISBN 1-84000-429-0), page 85 for the same mark. (A book no glassie should be without! <--- shameless plug!!!)

Andries Copier (1901-91), worked for Leerdam 1923-72 (same source as before - another plug!). Ivo may well be able to give more about your piece when he's on the board next. Ivo states Copier was "one of the top glassmakers of all time.

Well OK then - can't I ever take a day off?

nesting dishes and plates designed 1934 produced until 1940 (when other, more pressing products seem to have taken over), and sold under the catchphrase "high in quality, low in price".

Hi, could Ivo please give me an idea of mine. I now know the year it was made, but would like to know the value as I have to sell it, it seems to have drifted of onto the decanter. Frank do you mean mine won't sell either?? I was hoping it was quite valuable as I am severely struggling financially and was hoping this might be my salvation.

look again. it is there, and the full set of bowl and 6 small ones is currently standing at 57 euros. Which I find quite amazing for mass produced pressed glass from the thirties.
