Gorgeous dichroic celestial like paperweight ~ unmarked ~
« on: November 02, 2007, 09:25:38 PM »
Hiya folks.

I was wondering if anyone would be able to shed any light on this gorgeous paperweight. Hopefully the pics are ok. I might have to retake them, it was a hard one to capture right.
It reminds me of Glass Eye Studio Celestial series but is unmarked and I believe all theirs were signed. I know other companies have done this style also.
It is a really deep blood red with a window at an angle in the front, inside is dichroic glass and swirls of black, white, red etc. It reminds me of a volcano or Mars or something.
Dotted around the outside surface are little millefiori canes, they don't go in very deep though.

Any Clues? Would be so thankful for any help.

Detail of the exterior canes might help.

I collected Glass Eye until about 2000 when they got too pricey for my limited budget. By the time I could afford them again I had discovered Perthshire. I do have one GES egg that has star canes identical to those on the outside of your piece. I have also seen unsigned GES as well.

Does anyone know if Glass Eye makes their own canes or if they buy them from someone else?
I collect Scottish and Italian paperweights and anything else that strikes my fancy.

Here's a close up of the Cane for Frank. I was going to add it to original post but it only let me use 4 pics :P

Thanks Glasstrufflehunter for the GES tip, I'm going to try emailing them and see if they'll confirm or deny if it's one of theirs.
