Fratelli Toso Bowl ??
« on: November 04, 2007, 06:03:08 AM »
Hi.  I just purchase this bowl.  ;)  I (think) it is Murano, and that it is (possibly) Fratelli Toso.  Am I correct, or incorrect ?

What year would this be, and value?  Thanking in advance.

(*PS- I tried to attach a couple photos, but said to large yet, so I may have to piece them in IF that is OK ?  But I did get one posted by myself  :hiclp:)

Try to see if these photos work....

The reason I bought this bowl (or is a ashtray?), is because it matches the colors in the big over-sized vase (w/label) that I have.

The Vase I had purchased for $3, and the bowl I just got yesterday, I paid $10 for.  So total investment for these two pieces is now $ 13 dollars.  The bowl has NO label, so that is why I am questioning if it could be Fratelli Toso since the colors match the vase.......??

Any ideas/suggestions/comments/value on this bowl.....help !

Rose

* I posted an extra pic cuz I fiddled too much with the 3rd photo for size...so I posted (hopefully) a clearer photo (the 4th).... sorry

Yes, both Fratelli Toso.
Sorry I have been away most of this past months.
Just too much stuff going with the family (brother mostly).
I could write a book by now.

Bowl is about 10.5 inches long, and almost 8 inches wide.  What would the value of the bowl be itself, and then what would a *marriage* of sorts be with the two pieces by Fratelli Toso together.  Would this *marriage* increase the price as a *set* of sorts, rather than indivdually.....Do you have a date made for either the Vase, or the bowl... :)

Thank you for any reply..

Yeah, nice to hear from Svazzo....
I note I have the same over-sized vase like he has on his site: http://www.svazzo.com/id22.html  at a price of $1450  :o :o  and I bought mine for $3 at a garage sale (and has a perfect label on it).  Now I have found a bowl in the matching colors, and same maker for $10.....  ;D  Fratelli Toso - both now confirmed by Svazzo in this post.

Gotta love those garage sales... :chky:
Total investment for the two pieces $13....possible profit in future (?).... :hiclp:

:hiclp: :hiclp: Thanks Anne.  From the time I posted that last post, I did go to the library to see about getting an inter-library loan on the book FRATILLI TOSO.  The same one you listed here.  I am hoping that I will be able to get it (as so many times books do not go out cuz the library keeps them in place for research only)....BUT I am hoping that somewhere they have a *borrower's issue* to loan-out....

.....and if not, HEY  :st:

Here finally is a close-up of the label on the bottom of my big vase....the label is complete, and appears to be in excellant shape.  The base does have a few scratches on it, but after how many years old, it was most likely moved a few times....
