Eau de nil green opaline vaseline comport
« on: November 10, 2007, 01:17:47 PM »
Such a pretty delicate little comport / footed sugar - does anyone have any idea of who and where it might have been made.  It was bought with four pieces of Sowerby btw, if that has any implication?

It fluouresces brightly - see last pic.

Thanks for any help

Thank you very much!

Gentle bump for this too.
I forgot to put the size on before - it is 4.5 ins 115 mm tall, 4 ins 100 mm diameter across the rim. Very plain foot.

I've gone all through Pamela's site and the Pressglas-Korrespondenz (as far as I can work out the German) and cant find anything of this delicacy. The nearest was this Sowerby piece:

Similar lightness, but not the right pattern.

I'm stuck.....

Thank you very much!

looking further, the top rim seems very similar in shape to this Brockwitz one...

What do you think?

I wondered vaguely if it was an American piece - McKee perhaps. I've only got one piece of uranium in that colour but that's a Chance ashtray

BTW To give direct links to Pamela's stuff you have to right click and copy image location

Thanks Christine!  I'll go and find the right link...

I see... it is the frames... here is the right piece, the Brockwitz Frida footed sugar.  You will see what I mean about the top rim, but I don't know about the base.

Now McKee... hmm.... I know zilch about American glass other than carnival.  So something new to look at!

Thank you very much!

Hello:

Looks like Diana by Fenner Glasshutte.  Here is an article from PressGlas Korrespondenz.

Sid, that is just wonderful, thank you so much!!

My german is so rudimentary that I never know what to put in to the search, so it is always just pot luck that I find anything.

Thank you very much!

Ho!  You would NOT want to work out what Google translation made of the Pressglas article...  :spls:

Interesting though that Herr Geiselberger was thinking about Brockwitz too (from what I can make of the garbled translation...) so I might not have been 100 miles away with the rim I found on Pamela's site.
Thank you very much!
