Help to Identify signature on unusual Scandi? blown stem
« on: June 29, 2005, 01:33:28 AM »
I have stared at this signature until I have a migraine..unfortunately, it does not show up clearly in my pics but it looks like " H?G T 7 256A etched on the base of this blown cased tall stem with internal white stripes. I think it might be Orrefors, but I don't recognize the signature..any help would be appreciated, thanks!

..I don't know if Hadelands did anything like this, the pieces I've seen are very large and bulky, nothing delicate. Anyway, I don't think that the first letter is H anymore. After looking at it at different angles, I think it is either MLG or LUG. The G is very clear, as is the T 7 256A.
I have seen some Orrefors pieces with just letters (initials) and numbers, and I quess that is what made me think this might be. I am going to try to post a better shot of the marks . I really get frustrated when I can't identify a piece of art glass that is signed!

Mod: Pics gone, but could the sig be Holmegaard?

Having spent a great deal of time in the archives at Orrefors and studing the historic glass through 2000, I have not seen anything remotley similar to your stem in their catalogs or as proto types.

Hi Bill, thanks for the input.. I believe you are right and I probably just wanted it to be Orrefors and its not. Maybe its a comtemporary studio glass piece, although those usually just have a signature and date..I think I will just enjoy it as the beautiful art glass vase that it is!

Morning, Bill,

What is your opinion, that this might be from Kosta, as they did make a range of stem-ware, "Misty" by Bengt Edenfalk, which bears close similarities?

Regards,

Marcus
