Look what I found at my local car boot.  :hiclp: :chky: Tis in a fab ultramarine/kingfisher blue colour and stands 8".  Now then my dears, I can't find out the maker... would you believe lol.  It has a reg number to the base and I have  my suspicions that it may well be American.  Has the reg no. 879707 on the underside base.  Think it's around 1950.  Don't think it's earlier, can't find anything in my American Depression books.  Can anyone help please taaa

Ohhhh interesting. That looks to be the same top part as my mystery compote here:
http://yobunny.org.uk/gallery1/displayimage.php?pos=-6 and TC has a bowl in the same design on yet another stand here: http://glassgallery.yobunny.org.uk/displayimage.php?pos=-2456. I've also seen small bowls (like in a fruit set) to match. I think these are English, but so far I've not run them to earth.

I presume the number is on the metal, that would probably give the fitting maker which might help in deciding the maker.

After 1954 is the closest I can get it. It's not shown in the 1954 catalogue, the later catalogues are hand-annotated as 1950s and 1960s (so no definite date known) and the 2725 pattern appears in them.

The reg no. relates to the metal stand not the glass. The glass and stand would not have been assembled by Sowerby but by a 3rd party such as a wholesaler, retailer, or suchlike. The stands appear with glass from other companies as well.
