The reg no. relates to the metal stand not the glass. The glass and stand would not have been assembled by Sowerby but by a 3rd party such as a wholesaler, retailer, or suchlike. The stands appear with glass from other companies as well.
Still strange that a piece has been matched with another some 35 years later.

It may be a marriage. It may not.

Not really strange, as some of the metalware like some glass designs were made for a very long time.

But in  this instance they are pretty contemporary as Rd no 879707 on the stand dates from the 1950s too.
(1950 started with 860854 and 1960 started with 895000) In the mid-late 1950s this would have been very modern on both glass and metal counts.

Nope, the Glass Association Blue Book listing only goes up to 1945 though. Look at the Quick Checklist on this page: http://www.great-glass.co.uk/glass%20notes/regnos.htm and you'll see which number starts off each decade through to 1990. :)

I'm probbly getting confused with ceramic rg numbers. I need to read up more on these as I've 2 pieces to date.
I thought all rg numbers were stoped during the war. obviously not the case with glass.
