Would these ducks be by Seguso?
« on: November 16, 2007, 08:09:04 PM »
Any help would be appreciated in a workshop these ducks could have come from, unfortunalty 1 has a short tail,  not sure if it has been repaired, or cut off short, it is polished smooth.

Sandymae, the glass and pedestal looks like some pieces I have seen that were attributed to Barbini. I have not seen a label or signature, so I can't say with certainty. I am sorry to hear one had the tail lopped. They are gorgeous. I love the green eyes.

Hi,
Mostly, the pieces with Aventurine pedestals like this are not Barbini or Seguso.
Closer to Fratelli Toso, which is the 1 that used a lot of aventurine and controlled bubble combinations.
Also, I have seen many of this type birds with generic Venetian Glass labels (oval with the scalloped edge).

Thanks Javier and Anita,
Don't really know much about this sort of thing, but they are lovely, good to know they're got some age to them.

Funny isn't it, how these treasures do seem to travel round the world! Wonder how many countries they've travelled through. lol  ;D
