Topic: Bohemian weight

Has anyone any information about this Bohemian weight picked up today at the Dulwich Glass Fair?  It's just 2 inches in diameter, and the pink is a lovely clear 'cranberry' glass!  A real little treasure!

It looks like it's a Thuringian weight, early 20th century.
A weight with these canes is on page 95 of Sibylle Jargstorf's Paperweights book.

The ones that match are the pink/white with blue dots - identical.

If the glass has a dark tint I'd say it's match.

Yay!  :hiclp:  Well done, Alexander!  That's it exactly.  Yes, the glass is a bit dark.  In the picture of the profile you can see it's quite 'grey' and rather bubbly.   

What I don't understand is why the most elaborate complex cane was not put in the centre, as you might expect :huh:  There are three pairs and an odd one, and the odd one is on one side rather than the middle of the set-up!

...maybe it was made to be viewed from the side

Leni, many of the Bohemian / Thuringian millefiori weights have asymetric arrangements of cane patterns. Seems that it was just a case of setting up without particular thought to symetry. There can also be odd-looking differences in cane size, too. These types of weight were no doubt simple gift items.
