Help With Three Sided Dish, Cased Gold Leaf - Venini?
« on: December 10, 2007, 10:39:40 PM »
Hello,

I'm looking for more information about this small three sided dish.

The inner layer is pale green, overlayed with foamy bubbled glass, a layer of gold leaf, then cased in clear glass. The base is ground and polished. it appears to have a fair bit of age given the wear to the foot.

Dimensions are approx 3 inches wide by 2 inches tall (8 cm by 5 cm). I've no idea of maker but a friend suggested it might be a Venini piece. Any further information about age or maker would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Steven  :)

I concur with your friend. I had a small bowl the same color. Definetly Venini. Designed by Carlo Scarpa in the 1930's.

It doesn't have to be Venini. And in fact, if it's not signed, I'd say it's probably not.

Seguso and other companies did the exact same form.

Just more of the joys of collecting Murano glass - all the look-alikes!
