Topic: Slumped advertising - Volvo

I believe that we have had this slumped glass ashtray (one of a pair) since the mid to late 70's.  Although it does not show clearly, the underside has a pebble grain finish.  I have no idea who manufactured the ash trays or the country of origin.

As for the maker, it is difficult to say. It appears they might have used a textured glass to begin with, so if the pattern can be identified this might help, although I am assuming it could be a US rolled-plate glass. The shape does not appear to be one produced by Houze, so the other US company to explore is Behrenberg:

The shape and pointy corners do seem to conform to their current product range and I note they offer textured glass

Also worth checking the size and thickness: Behrenberg appear to offer a 3/16-in textured range (approx. 5mm), although what was available c.1980 could have been quite different.

I do not have one of those tools with a dial to give me an exact measurement, but the glass is most definitely a tick less than 2/16" or 1/8" thick.  It is much less than 3/16.  The other measurements are 6 13/16" tall by 5 15/16" wide.

Could still be Behrenberg: it all depends on what they were producing about 30 years ago. You could try calling them after the holidays.
