ID help please - lustre vase
« on: January 05, 2008, 01:13:18 AM »

I bought this as part of a collection of 70's and early 80's glass, mainly Isle of Wight. It has a flat ground base, and a lustre finish. Can anyone help to identify it ?-
Thanks, David

Mtarfa...?

....or more likely Alum Bay from the 'Venus' range..... http://www.wightonline.co.uk/alumbayglass/collection.html

I can't recall ever seeing a Mtarfa vase in this colour, although random strapping is one of its hallmarks.

Hi David (E)

yes your right I jumped in too quickly, I've had one of these and a matching weight before but my memory let me down...a few minutes after posting "Mtarfa...?" My brain woke up and I remembered they were actually Alum Bay Glass so corrected myself and edited my posting.

I think you can see this vase bottom left photo on the link above.
